In a valiant but pointless attempt to cheer up their freshly-dumped friend and former Dungeons and Dragons legend, Joe, two enthusiastic Live Action Role Players–Eric, a 27-level Grand Sorcerer in the making, and Hung, a medieval Master Rogue–drag their sad companion to a large-scale LARP campaign in the middle of a forest. However, things will soon spin out of control, as a malevolently cryptic dark incantation from the pages of a seemingly innocent prop book of spells, inadvertently summons a demonic succubus bent on destruction. Now, try to stop a slaughterous extra-dimensional being with several foam sticks and a handful of plastic swords.
Live-action role players conjure up a demon from Hell by mistake and they must deal with the consequences.
Saw this in the theatre at a showing organized by a local LARP chapter.<br/><br/>The crowd was having a great time with the movie, laughing out loud and cheering (when called for). The energy in there was almost half the experience. The rest was the move itself. Lots of laughs, great acting, and a ridiculous premise really sold me on this.<br/><br/>You can really tell that the actors had fun with the movie. None of them seemed like they were forced to be there or looked like they&#39;d made a terrible mistake by signing a contract(You know the kind of movie I&#39;m talking about).<br/><br/>For how long it took this movie to come out, it really pulled through.<br/><br/>If you&#39;re looking for something that takes itself seriously, or maybe has a deeper side to it, this probably isn&#39;t what you&#39;re looking for.<br/><br/>If you&#39;re looking for a FUN movie to watch with a group of friends, I&#39;d definitely recommend it.<br/><br/>I will be watching this again for sure.
This movie was not bad, but I would not call it good either. There were some laughs to be had at the expense of the nerdiness of the situation, but for the most part it not particularly funny. I did not like how it seemed to make fun of the LARPing community. I would have preferred to see a less patronizing portrayal of LARPers. <br/><br/>The best thing about the movie is the cast is pretty engaging with the exception of Summer Glau which was half of the reason I watch this movie. I have not seen in her anything other than Firefly and a few episodes of the Sarah Connor Chronicles and I was not particularly impressed. The rest of the cast really got into it and it looked like they were having a lot of fun. It was over the top with the violence and chessiness at moments, but then tried to throw in some stupid love connection that never clicked for me. Not really worth watching unless you want to see some serious LARPing going on in the background.

Knights of Badassdom is a action horror comedy starring Summer Glau and Peter Dinklage in which all hell breaks loose for a group of dungeons and dragons roleplayers, during a dungeons and dragons enactment in the woods, when they discover that a spell book they bought online, is a book that summons demons and they unwittingly unleash a demon from medieval legend, that goes on a rampage in the woods.
